Volunteer Program

At the heart of the Crime Victims Treatment Center lies our volunteer rape crisis and domestic violence advocacy program.  These dedicated women and men are recruited from the community and trained to provide emergency room crisis intervention, advocacy and emotional support for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors and their families.

To date, CVTC has trained more than 1,000 advocates, many of whom have gone on to incorporate this work into their lives as writers, performing and visual artists, teachers, lawyers, doctors and social workers.

Our advocates are on call to provide immediate crisis counseling and support in the emergency rooms of St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals. Our advocates initiate a survivor’s first step in the healing process.
