CVTC is involved with policy and training on a national and international level. In 1994, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee requested our testimony concerning allocation of funds for the Violence Against Women Act and Crime Bill in Washington, D.C. In 1996, St. Luke's-Roosevelt and CVTC were one of six sites nationally chosen to be visited by members from the National Research Council for the National Academy of Science in Washington, DC who were charged with recommending a national policy for domestic violence.

In 1993, two staff members were invited to the Bahamas to provide consultation and training to law enforcement and health care professionals. In 1993 and again in 1994, three CVTC staff members traveled to Croatia at the invitation of the Red Cross of Bosnia-Herzegovina to provide rape trauma training to health care providers and local non-governmental grassroots organizers in Zagreb and Split.

We have received delegations and representatives from around the world who sought information and training resources concerning clinical practice and/or sexual assault and domestic violence policy programming. Recently, we have been hosts to visiting delegations from Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa sponsored by the Africa Fund; to Maria Elena Palomino, Mexico's Asst. District Attorney for Sexual Abuse and Domestic Violence; and to a group of psychologists from Hiroshima and Osaka who hope to establish Japan's first crime victim assistance center. At the request of the United Nations Population Fund, we have been hosts to a group of international journalists researching treatment of sexual assault, and provided consultation to a special UN committee commissioned to create a manual for third world countries dealing with treatment for rape and domestic violence.
